The Cestari hopper is now part of the «Punta Quilla Forage Storage Plant» in the province of Santa Cruz.
The project, developed by the provincial government with support from the national government and technical advice from INTA (National Institute of Statistics and Census), consists of the implementation of a Silo Plant at the Punta Quilla Port, with the goal of storing forage, especially wheat and corn, for livestock production.
The initiative aims to supplement and develop intensive cattle, sheep, and poultry farming, as well as the development of the pork industry. For this purpose, the presence of Cestari self-unloading hoppers is essential, as they will make the provincial logistics and production process more efficient.
The first stage of this project involves the maritime transport of the grain to the province, thus making Punta Quilla the gateway to Santa Cruz. After the bulk carriers arrive at the port, the cargo will be unloaded using aerial forklifts. This is where the Cestari Self-Unloading Hopper comes in, first storing and transporting the grain to the silo plant and finally to trucks for overland transport to the final destination.
The Cestari firm supports this project with an impressive, multifunctional Self-Unloading Hopper, specially designed and fully equipped to meet the project’s demanding requirements. During this phase, the unit will travel approximately 600-700 meters to the silo plant, where it will unload the grain and subsequently distribute it to trucks.
The installation of the grain silos will transform the economy of the southern part of the province. Initially, it will serve to supplement and develop the intensive cattle and sheep farming industry, as well as the development of the pork industry. This initiative has become a highly anticipated project for producers in recent years due to the many benefits it promises, including a 40% reduction in the price of livestock feed for local producers, a 50% reduction in current freight costs, the potential for generating new jobs, and lowering the cost of meat due to more efficient production.
The Cestari hopper has a capacity of 38,000 liters on two axles and a «giant» 480 mm discharge tube, allowing for a discharge of more than 12 tons per minute. This equipment has an unsurpassed discharge speed and enormous loading capacity to maximize the storage process. These are two essential qualities that help generate an efficient process from start to finish.
Its high productivity and excellent capacity are complemented by the latest technology. This hopper is painted, as always, with the highest quality paint. Its top coat is finished with polyurethane enamel, and its base coat is made with highly resistant phenolic epoxy. This technology, a joint development between Sherwin Williams and MC Pinturas, is designed to operate in the climatic conditions found on the Santa Cruz coast.
