The new Cestari 4WS hopper won the 2022 CITA Award in the «Harvesting Equipment, Accessories, and Headers» category on Monday, July 25th. This prestigious award, presented at the Palermo Rural Exhibition, recognizes and highlights innovation in agricultural technology.
For 95 years, Industrias Metalúrgicas Cestari has dedicated much of its time to the creation, innovation, and production of self-unloading hoppers, a tool that has become essential for field work.
Industrias Metalúrgicas Cestari’s innovations in 2022 included the brand-new 4WS (rear-swing) system and the safe tube drive system. Both developments were led and implemented by Juan Andrés Cestari.
Juan Andrés explains the satisfaction of the entire Cestari family: «We are happy to receive this award, which is also a great recognition for our users, whose suggestions, criticisms, and recommendations drive our innovations.» He adds: «Our greatest merit is knowing how to listen to our users, who are like our honorary engineers.»
The new Cestari S6 4WS (Four Wheel Steering) hopper consists of a trailer capable of turning with the rear wheels and complementing the front wheels. Fabricio Soldati is a Mechanical Engineer at our factory and responsible for this development. Fabricio tells us: «It’s a system that allows turning with the rear wheels, assisting the front wheels. This reduces the trailer’s turning radius, allowing turns that were previously impossible. The system is achieved using four hydraulic cylinders, two in the front and two in the rear. The movement of the front cylinders activates the rear cylinders, causing them to perform the opposite movement, which in turn allows the rear steering to turn in the opposite direction.»
This system offers many benefits to users: – Excellent turning radius of 7.5 meters (25 feet) for the unit. – Stability and safety during transport. – Excellent maneuverability on narrow roads, field entrances, or silo plants, achieving more dynamic and fluid circulation in these areas while avoiding excessive additional movements.
«It’s an improvement to the hopper that directly impacts productivity. It can make turns with a smaller diameter, therefore traveling a shorter distance, which translates to less time. It allows the trailer to enter areas where it previously couldn’t and required larger hoppers, increasing transport capacity in that area,» says Fabricio.
He adds: «It’s also an improvement for the user, who doesn’t need to close the front steering wheel too much when making very tight turns, preventing the boom from hitting the stops.»
Like all developments and innovations from Industrias Metalúrgicas Cestari, the S6 43,000 L SW4 hopper was developed and tested in the factory, always in consultation with users and customers.
